When is the best time to engage an interior designer?

If you’re looking to give your home a refresh or about to undergo a renovation, then you might be considering engaging an interior designer to work on your project.

Having assistance to professionally design your home can transform your space, while a contractor will help you take down walls and rebuild them, an interior designer can assist you in finding the perfect balance between aesthetics and functionality in your everyday life. You want to create a space that you love to live in, so why not do it right from the get go?

You might be asking, actually when is the best time to engage an interior designer?

As soon as possible is our advice, ideally before the commencement of your project, why?  Because, it allows us to help you design your dream space from the start, and not coming in half way through where it might be too late or too expensive to influence changes. Perhaps your project is just a pipe dream at this stage, however regardless of this we recommend starting the process of engaging a designer as soon as possible as we may offer some valuable recommendations that you haven’t even considered.

What’s involved in the enquiry process?

All enquiries start with a free 20 minute Discovery Phone Call where we run through a general overview of your project, timelines and budget to get a feel if we’re the perfect fit!

Just like any business, interior designers will likely already be engaged on other projects and have some sort of lead time before they can start working with you. We try our absolute best to work within our clients timelines, however as much as we might love to work on a particular project it just may not be possible to fit into our schedule.

Our ‘Design Process’ covers nine stages running from initial discovery through to install and completion. From here if you are eager to proceed, we start the process at stage one and book a paid in-person Design Consultation at your home. During this meeting we go through your project in finer detail to understand the design direction, project requirements, timelines and budget. This working meeting allows us to create a detailed ‘scope of work, which we can take back to the studio to create design proposal and fee estimate’ for your project.

If we have got to this point we are most likely itching to start working together to bring your beautiful project to life. Once our design agreement has been accepted and deposit paid we book you into the project schedule and let you know when we can get started.

We’d love to assist you if you have more questions. Reach out here to book a Discovery Call and let’s chat.

Until next time,

Angie. x

Frequently asked questions

  • Great question! One of the first things we discuss is your budget, to ensure we are spending wisely and appropriately with your best interest in mind. This also makes sure you don’t fall in love with something you can’t afford. Secondly, we ask the client to complete a detailed questionnaire and homework to form a Pinterest board of images, pinpointing subconscious preferences or recurring design elements they may be drawn to. We design a 3D model to figure out the functionality of the space and get the layout and flow right before we start adding furniture. This also creates a visual tool to be able to 'show' rather than just 'tell' what their space will look like. From there, we move through your customised project in a timely manner and agreed timeframe.

  • At Angie Rogers Interiors, our mission is to make you feel seen, heard and understood. We are the best listeners in the game - we aren’t going to give you a cookie cutter design. If you are someone who is willing and open to being guided by an expert in your project, reducing your overwhelm, and creating a clear, easy to understand strategy - we are the people for you!
